Daniel Karp was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As a young man he was fascinated with images and has been involved in photography and cinematography ever since. After securing degrees in Music and Architecture from the University of Buenos Aires, Daniel moved to Europe and began honing his craft working as a camera assistant and still photographer in Germany and Italy. Upon returning to Buenos Aires he entered a theater school to study directing. In the mid eighties, Daniel decided to jump into Direction of Photography and at the same time he began showing his photographic works. Since then, he has been shooting commercials, documentaries and feature films as well as showing his photographs in galleries all over the world. In the early 1990s "Buenos Aires, a state of the heart," a coffee table book was published. Based on the concept of emptiness and people absent in a city that was the most energetic, cultural and educational center of Latin America, it is a seminal photographic essay on the city and considered by critics to be one of the most accurate visual art publications of the time. In addition to being a photographer and cinematographer, Daniel is also a writer. A collection of his short stories have been published in several Argentinean newspapers and magazines. In 2002 he moved to the United States of America and now lives and shoots in the city of Los Angeles, California.
